Eco Jewellery - Raccolta Differenziata
Since the mid 20th Century, just as in the fields of sculpture or painting, makers of art jewellery have used their discipline as a form of expression to convey political, social or similar issues. The world we live in today is threatened in many ways and environmental problems are ever increasing. It seems natural therefore that many jewellery artists feel this is a focal point to be working on.
It is ever more necessary today to consider "waste" as something precious. So why not make it become truly "precious"? The aim of this exhibition is to explore the way in which several designers from all over the world have recycled material to create jewellery that is inventive but which also responds to environmental issues. The exhibition will include artists working in the most diverse materials such as empty plastic bottles, cardboard, plastic bags, drink cans, etc. It is interesting to see how each designer has been able to give a new life to items that would normally be discarded.
