Statement
Anna Unsgaard’s earlier works showed the use of crocheting techniques, whereby she availed herself of interesting materials such as recycled electrical wires.
Her latest works, on the other hand, are essentially based on symbols or codes that call to mind strong feelings inherent to family life. The concept of what a family can represent emotionally is presently the focus of her attention.
Her jewellery integrates fragments of old tapestry, rugs, clothes, objects of everyday life belonging to her family, filled with memories. Unsgaard takes out parts from these objects and crochets around them, thus incorporating these memories into her pieces.
